Obituary of Jeanette Coker Harnesberger

Iris Jeanette Coker Harnesberger, 82, wife of William Fredrick Harnesberger for 63 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Mrs. Harnesberger was born in Pelzer to the late Ansel Bonham Coker and Ruby Grace Lindley Coker. She was a member of Fork Shoals Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was involved in the GA’s and the WMU. Following marriage, she relocated to Sumter as a military wife to William. Jeanette was a graduate of Draughns Business College and was the co-owner and operator of the family business, Metal Engineering, Inc. and Tri-City Interiors. She also worked for many years as an underwriter at Canal Insurance. Jeanette enjoyed horseback riding and was a huge fan of horse racing. She and William traveled the U.S. together. She was particularly fond of Hawaii and Jackson Hole, WY. She was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers, and enjoyed NASCAR as well. Jeanette’s greatest joy was being “Grandmommie” to her grandson Trevor. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Michael Harnesberger and wife Karen; a daughter, Andrea Matthews and husband Bill; a brother, Larry Coker; a grandson, Trevor Harnesberger and wife Katrina; a niece, Debra Davis and husband James; and a great-nephew, Matthew Davis and a great-niece, Jordan Davis. She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Nancy Coker. The family will receive friends between 6-8 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A Celebration of Jeanette’s Life will be 1 o’clock Thursday at Fork Shoals Baptist Church, officiated b Rev. Jay Howard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
