I played Army baseball with Mike at Ft. Jackson, SC in 1963. Several years ago I stopped by Woodruff and visited with Mike and his mother. He wanted me to take photographs of him batting, playing with Bobby Cox and various other teammates. Those were his treasures so I declined taking them. I gave him some old Army photos while visiting. He had had a stroke a year or so before my visit but much of the summer of ‘63 came back to him.
I’m sorry to read about his passing…..two months later and I’m sorry for the loss. He was a friend for a summer and an outstanding baseball player.
