Obituary of John Duard Rodgers

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Duard “Johnny” Rodgers, 80, husband of Dorothy Ann “Dot” Hammond Rodgers for 56 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Mr. Rodgers was born in Fountain Inn to the late Harry Duard Rodgers and Helen Garrett Rodgers. He retired from Sew Simple Systems. Johnny was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, where he had formerly served as a Deacon. He enjoyed deer hunting and was a member of the Upper Carolina Coon Hunters. He loved NASCAR and dirt-track racing, and was proud to be a member of the “Boo-Birds” squad at Mile Back Speedway for many years. Some of Johnny’s favorite pastimes were collecting arrowheads and riding his golf-cart. He played the piano and the guitar as well. His greatest interest was spending time with his family and being Papa to his grandkids. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Harry Rodgers and wife Amy; a daughter, Cher McDonald and husband Zach; a sister-in-law, Fair Rodgers; and four grandchildren, Lucas Rodgers, Cole Rodgers, Alex McDonald and Shelby McDonald. He was predeceased by a brother, James Rodgers; and a sister, Carolyn Martin. A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will be 3 o’clock Sunday at Fairview Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 417 Rutherford Road, Greenville, SC 29609; or to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
