Obituary of Frances Chesney

Frances “Fannie” Babb Chesney, 99, widow of Belton Dempsey Chesney, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Mrs. Chesney was born in Fountain Inn to the late Harley Gervis “H.G.” Babb and Essie Mae Holland Babb. She was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery and served as a social hostess for church events. Fannie enjoyed travel, cards, entertaining and celebrating birthdays. She was known for keeping notebooks and jokes for future generations. She was predeceased by two sons, Greg Chesney and Eddie Chesney; two brothers, Holland Babb and H.G. Babb, Jr.; and three sisters, Julia Babb, Nell Horton and Faye Prior. Graveside services will be 2 o’clock Monday at Cannon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family asks that friends perform an act of kindness for some elderly person.
