Obituary of Donald Herbert Stephens

Rev. Donald Herbert Stephens, 85, of Simpsonville, died Saturday, January 28, 2017. Born in Liberty, he was the son of the late John and Stella Stephens. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Black Stephens of the home and one daughter, Connie Stephens Cantrell (Michael); two grandchildren, Allison Cantrell Dyer (Matthew) and Justin Michael Cantrell (Alexis), and six great grandchildren (Landon, Adriana, Logan, Holden, Lucas, and McKinley), as well as a brother, Dempsey Stephens of Anderson. Don was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. He served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Don graduated from Tennessee Temple University, Chattanooga, TN. He served as pastor of Kentland Park Baptist Church, Lowndesville First Baptist Church, Reidville First Baptist Church, Durbin Creek Baptist Church, and interim pastor of Unity Baptist Church. After retirement, he resided in Simpsonville. The family will receive friends at Fletcher Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 31st from 12:30-2pm with services following immediately thereafter. The family is at the home of his daughter, Connie Cantrell.
