John Riley Shirley, 76, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Mr. Shirley was born in Greenville to the late James Lee Shirley and Hazel Gertrude Banks. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. John was an avid NASCAR and Gamecock football fan. He mostly enjoyed being “Papa” to his grandchildren.
Surviving is a son, James “Eddie” Shirley; daughter, Teresa Howard; brother, Clarence “Pewee” Shirley; sister, Faye Hunter (Donnie); four grandchildren, JC Shirley, James Shirley (Crystal), Justin Shirley, and Alyssa Shirley; special niece and nephew, Sonya Ellis “Peanut”; and Doug Maxwell “Worm”; and many loving niece and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Pat Phillips, Marie Maxwell, Sue Dacus and Linda Cummings.
The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 4-7pm at the home of Teresa Howard, 1731 Highway 418, Pelzer, SC 29669.
