Obituary of Catherine Sloan Chappell

Catherine Sloan Chappell, 94, widow of James W. Chappell, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 24, 2022. Mrs. Chappell was born in Owings to the late Richard Gladith Sloan and Nell Cooper Sloan. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and taught Sunday School. She loved to cook and use her fancy dishes, do arts and crafts and collect angels and coffee cups. Catherine was a Godly, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading her bible. She was the last member of her immediately family. Surviving, are two sons, Frank Chappell (Deborah) and Earl Chappell (Lisa); a daughter, Roxanne Peden; seven grandchildren, Franky Chappell (Jan), Drew Chappell (Ginna), Tyler Chappell, Jordan Chappell (Danielle), Dallas Chappell (Erica), Jenna Chappell and Kendall Chappell (Kaitlyn); ten great-grandchildren, Landon Chappell, Henley Chappell, Trent Chappell, Aubree Chappell, Laityn Chappell, Lilah Chappell, Levi Pennington, Amelia Chappell, Roper Chappell and Rankin Chappell; a niece, Venice Page; a great-nephew, Gabriel Page and a great-great niece, Aidan Page. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Sloan and Everett Sloan; a sister-in-law, Margaret Sloan and a son-in-law, Bill H. Peden, Jr. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 pm Tuesday at Bethany Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be private.
