Obituary of Louise Balcombe

Mary Louise Payne Balcombe, 86, widow of Bobby “Bob” Loran Balcombe, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Mrs. Balcombe was born in Danville, VA to the late Albert Edward Payne and Mary Magalene Thompson Payne. She was a member of Green Pond United Methodist Church. Louise enjoyed walking, cooking, and crossword puzzles. She was a collector of books and an avid reader, particularly with her daily Bible study. One of her greatest joys was being Nannie to her grandchildren. Surviving are two sons with their wives, Bobby and Sharon Balcombe, and Rod and Phyllis Balcombe; a daughter, Wanda Bailey; six grandchildren, Holly Pee with husband Jason, Ashley Bailey, Heather Coleman, Ashley Bolton with husband Josh, Zack Balcombe, and Colby Balcombe; and four great-grandchildren, Maddie, Carson, Jaden and Sawyer. She was predeceased by two brothers, Sam Payne and Dusty Rhodes; and a sister, Billy Stewart. Funeral services will be 2 o’clock Friday at Green Pond United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Sharon Britz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church for one hour prior to the service.
