Obituary of Barbara Virginia Thomas Simmons

Barbara Virginia Thomas Simmons, 80, wife of John Ansel “Johnny” Simmons for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2022. Mrs. Simmons was born in Laurens to the late Tom Cass Thomas and Emmy Janette Pace Thomas. She was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed decorating, traveling, swimming, dancing, and solving word puzzles. She was a collector of ceramic dolls and vases. Barbara was predeceased by two brothers, Junior Thomas and Rev. Clyde “Mickey” Thomas; and a sister, Ruby Hughes. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be 11 o’clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Robbie Hughes. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
