Obituary of Lewis William Vaughn

Lewis William Vaughn, Sr., 89, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, March 9, 2017, in Poquoson, VA, following a brief illness. He had been a Poquoson resident for the last 16 years.
Born and raised in Simpsonville, SC, Lewis attended school in the Simpsonville School System. He worked for the J.C. Penney Co. in the Greenville, SC and Greenwood, SC areas with 28 years of service. He stated that one of his proudest moments was the day that he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized in 1953.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley B. Vaughn of Poquoson, VA; his sons, Richard Felix “Fritz” Vaughn of Poquoson, VA and Louis W. Vaughn, Jr. of Alexandria, VA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Lancaster of Simpsonville, SC and Lovonia Hendrix of Spartanburg, SC.
A period of viewing and a reception by the family will take place from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, March 15, at the Fletcher Funeral Home in Fountain Inn, with funeral services held there also on Thursday, March 16 at 11 am. Interment will be later in the day at Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville.
