Obituary of Choice Knight Ballenger

Choice Pearl Knight Ballenger, 89, of Simpsonville, SC widow of William Haud “Bill” Ballenger, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2023. Choice was born in Simpsonville to the late Fred Werron Knight and Nancy Estelle McKinney Knight. Choice was a lifelong member of Clear Spring Baptist Church and member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was formerly employed at Her Majesty, Mauldin. Choice spent a lifetime as caregiver to anyone in the community who had a need. A friend to all, Choice welcomed countless folks into her home. She is survived by a brother, Alvin Knight (Charlotte); nephews, Ken Knight (Suzanne) and Phil Knight (Hara); five great-nephews; three great-nieces; and numerous cousins and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Choice was predeceased by a sister, Betty Boiter; and a nephew, Don Boiter. Visitation will be Saturday 9:45am-10:45am at Clear Spring Baptist Church. A celebration of Choice’s life will begin at 11 o’clock, officiated by Rev. David Shiflet. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookstone Terrace of Simpsonville for their gracious care for Choice over the last several months.
