Obituary of Lawrence Nesbitt Greer Sr.

Lawrence (Billy) Nesbitt Greer, Sr, Age 98 beloved husband, grandfather and great grandfather went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Born and raised in Kingston Springs, TN, he was the eldest of six siblings of Hugh and Katie Belle Greer. He is survived by two of his siblings, Juanita Story and Edward Greer. He is predeceased by three siblings, Jack, Arnett and Dick Greer. He married Sarah Buttrey in 1946. They had a wonderful 76 year marriage until her passing in 2022. He retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Company, Nashville, TN in 1983 after 40 years of service. He worked his way from mail room to be an underwriter. He was active in the Methodist Church, avid reader, master wood carver and active Boy Scout leader for 25 years. In 1992 they moved to Simpsonville, SC to be closer to the grandchildren. Billy is survived by his two sons, Larry and Ray, four grandchildren Heather Uhall, Tyler, Katelin and Hunter Greer and one great grandchild Emma Grace Uhall. All of whom he loved very dearly. A graveside service will be held at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens outside Nashville, TN on Friday at 11 AM, February 24.
