Obituary of Peggy Hinton

Peggy Brenda Pennington Hinton, 80, wife of Robert Lee “Bud” Hinton for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2023. Mrs. Hinton was born in Simpsonville to the late Alvin Carroll Pennington, Sr. and Elberta Johnson Pennington. She retired from Greenbriar Elementary School. Peggy enjoyed fishing, picking blackberries, gardening, and reading her Bible. She was a collector of Red Bird figurines. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Mike Hinton and Randy Hinton; two daughters, Brenda Hunter with husband Robert, and Ann Blankenship; a brother, Jerry Pennington; a sister, Linda Smith; ten grandchildren, Paul David Shockley, Jr., William Lee Shockley, Autumn Elaine Shockley, Cory Ann Shockley, James Robert Michael Shockley, Josh Hinton, Christopher Hinton, Justin Blankenship, Tyler Blankenship, and Anthony Collins; and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, R.L. “Robbie” Hinton, Jr.; and ten brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be 3 o’clock Friday at Clear Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.
