Obituary of Thomas Grubbs

Thomas Lee “Tommy” Grubbs, 76, husband of Sue McKeowen Grubbs, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Mr. Grubbs was born in Greenville to the late Miles Lee “Pete” Grubbs and Iris Lynnette Templeton Grubbs. He was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville where he was active in various church functions. Tommy was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he was ranked as a sergeant and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from AT&T, enjoyed golf, grilling, reading, Gamecock football and spending time with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four daughters, Jamie Greer with husband Alan, Lei Cross with husband Jason, Marcie McMillan with husband Jody and Christy Brassell; two sons, Trey Babb with wife Nicci, and Brian Hunt; a sister, Phyllis Hubalek; 13 grandchildren, Anna Grace Greer, Clara Greer, Maci Cross, Chloe Cross, Chelsey Drawdy, Collin McMillan, Chandler McMillan, Cadence Babb, Ellee Babb, David Hunt, Nicole Hunt, Hannah Brassell and Trey Brassell; and 12 great-grand grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kay Green Grubbs; and a brother-in-law, Bill Hubalek. A Celebration of Tommy’s Life will be noon Monday at Upstate Church – Mauldin, 509 South Main Street, Mauldin, SC 29662. Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W.
