Obituary of Alex Davis

Alex Mitchell Davis, Jr., 86, husband of Nancy Della Smith Davis for 62 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 30, 2023. Mr. Davis was born in Greer to the late Alex Mitchell Davis, Sr. and Mattie Lou Childress Davis. He retired from Inman Mills and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Alex enjoyed fishing, walking, working on lawn mowers and watching Western Cowboy movies. He and Nancy were regulars at the old Pickin Parlor, where he sang and played the guitar and piano. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Lynn Green with husband Bill; a brother, Ed Davis; two grandchildren, Andrew Green, and Elizabeth Blunt with husband Bostin; and seven great-grandchildren, Leilani, Keith, Aria, Robert, Aiden, Alex and Riley. He was predeceased by a son, Tony Davis; four brothers, Jimmy Davis, Carlos Davis, Landrum Davis, and Grady Davis; and three sisters, Shelby Jean Haggard, Matha “Mott” Harvey, and Marion Davis. A Celebration of Alex’s Life will be 2 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Mark McCall. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 123 W. Antrim Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
