Obituary of George Fowler

George Lynnis Fowler, Sr., 71, husband of Lynn Thompson Fowler for 29 years, went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2023. Mr. Fowler was born in Simpsonville to the late Robert Cecil Fowler, Sr. and Grace Estelle Hopkins. George retired from Chandler Construction after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping and trips to the mountains. George also enjoyed attending auctions, where he was able do his “wheeling and dealing” and scoring a “good deal”. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and taking the grandbabies for rides behind the lawnmower. George loved spending time with his family and was a “Breakfast Club” regular at Bojangles. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, G.L. Fowler, Jr. "Junior" (Tonya), Andy Lesley (Ashley) and Zach Thornburg (Veronica); three daughters, Tammy Jones, Jennifer Bright (Todd) and Anna Riddle (Trent); three brothers, Joe Fowler (Elaine), Doc Fowler, and Danny Fowler (Jane); five sisters, Janet Suggs, Sybil Vaughn, JoAnne Richards, Ellen Howard (Nick), and Martha Wofford; ten grandchildren, Brooke Arnold, Heather Jones, Hayley Jones, Ethan Fowler, Ryan Lesley, Taylor Lesley (Kaylee), Eli Thornburg, Charlie Thornburg, and Austin Nix; four great-grandchildren, Leona, Adrian, Manny, and Westen. He was predeceased by two brothers, Junie Fowler and Allen Fowler; and two sisters, Donna Mae Dye and Leta June Lay. A Celebration of George’s life will be 5 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
