Obituary of Joe Brewington

Joesph “Joe” Brewington, 81, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Joe was born in Laurens to the late Tommy Brewington and Laura Tucker Brewington. Joe retired from the state of South Carolina as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement, he refurbished and resold all types of machinery and equipment. He was an avid coon hunter, competing in tournaments and raising hunting dogs for many years. Joe also taught his nephews to hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his family often attended Saturday singing in Gray Court. Joe was sweet spirited and never met a stranger. He was a jokester who loved to make everyone laugh and feel good about themselves. Surviving are two brothers, Mancel Brewington (Pansy) and Alvin Brewington (Sybil); three sisters, Flossie Smith, Kay Greene (Michael), and Liddle Leopard; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Faye Cox, Maggie Templeton, and Edith Langston; and three brothers, Willie Brewington, SB Brewington, and Arthur Brewington. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be 2 o’clock Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Paster Jack Hurley and Pastor Scott Brewington. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial in Highland Home Baptist Church Cemetery will be private.
