Darrell was a good-hearted man; a fine person, neighbor, and friend. Wonderful to know he is with his savior but such a loss to his wife, family, church and community.
One of our favorite memories was playing in the neighborhood during the big snow of 1988 with Darrell riding all the kids on his 4-wheeler.
With love and deepest sympathy to Anna, Chad and family.

Darrell and I have been friends for many years. I had the pleasure of going on many motorcycle trips with him the last 13 years, as well as fishing trips and camping. Some of the best times of my life.
He was one of the most positive, upbeat people I have ever known, always interested in others and with lots of enthusiasm for whatever he undertook. We were bad to pull a few pranks on each other from time to time but I had the greatest respect for him. He will be forever missed.
My condolences go out to Anna, Chad, Alan, Bryan, and all of your families.

I feel so fortunate to have met up with Darrell and met wife Anna a few years ago. We were able to reminisce about childhood memories from 50+ years ago and catch up on our lives since then. What a nice family & certainly a pleasure to see! To all Darrell’s family our heart

We are drained emotionally and physically as we mourn our deep loss of Darrell. He was the glue that kept the families together, and we will all miss him so very much! We have been reflecting on all the wonderful times we have spent together at pig pickings, oyster roasts, wineries, weddings, Super Bowl parties, birthday parties, trips to Wilmington, Holden Beach, Niagara Falls, Belews Lake, Lake Jocassee, and Southport. We are so very thankful for our last time together as he and Anna helped us celebrate at our 50th Anniversary surprise party! We are taking comfort in knowing we will see him again in heaven!
Love, Cyndy and Billy

I remember going to Darrell and Anna’s wedding. They were a beautiful couple and so much in love. Over the years, Darrell and my husband stayed in touch. They went on motorcycle trips across the country. They always had a good time. Darrell was a very good man and a special person. Anna, I’m so sorry for your loss.

Darrell was a kind and gentile soul. He was a diligent and hard worker at everything he tried. He remained loyal to his alma mater NC State and colleagues.
He helped me buy my first boat and taught me how to use it.
a good man taken all too soon. our prayers and hearts go out to his family

I will never forget Darrell. I only knew him for four years. When he would call me and I'd see his name come up on caller ID I knew he was needing some help with something related to Trail Life. You couldn't turn him down because you knew he was working even harder then you were to bring things together.
He was a wonderful man and Trailman. He had tremendous organizational skills. He would be on our Upstate Trail Life campouts tearing around on his quad checking to make sure everything was just right.
He worked so hard for our boys. While he may not have worked as a direct contact to them, he was taking care of the upstate leaders making sure they had everything they needed to insure success in their troops. Darrell was choosy, he would not place you in a position if he didn't believe you would give it your all.
He believed in me, more than I believed in myself. I don't want to take anything away from Darrell, but our upstate Trail Life leaders and trainers are some of the finest people you will know... Men of integrity just as Darrell was.
Thank you Anna for sharing Darrell with us!

Darrell was a joy to be around. A kind man of humor, faith, and absolute love for Anna, Chad, his family and church. Another angel in the heavens. His absence is felt by all who knew him.

Thank you for being such a caring, welcoming, man. You will always be the epitome of what a supportive, loving, and kind husband and male role model should look like. I always got such a kick out of seeing you filling in for Anna at Over the Rainbow.
You always took the time to ask how my family was doing. I know you are deeply missed but what an amazing reunion you and Jas must have had!

Anna, I am sorry to hear about Darrell. He was special to me as well as a lot of people. I enjoyed his time in Reidsville a long time ago. I still remember him going for an interview and asking me to look after his very pregnant wife. Water broke and driving to Burlington in the middle of the night. WOW! My condolences and best wishes going forward. Love Tommy Dyer
