Obituary of Joyce Brooks

Joyce Brenda Mahaffey Brooks, 82, wife of William Vaughn Brooks, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 1, 2023.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Greenville to the late Milton James Mahaffey and Fannie Loral Green Mahaffey.  She was a member of Upstate Church where she enjoyed supporting the nursery.  Joyce loved the beach, especially Isle of Palms.  She enjoyed country music shows and collecting antiques and seashells.  Her greatest enjoyment was being “MawMaw” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Johnny Southern (Dana), Wade Southern (Marcy), and Rodney Southern (Tara); a daughter, Ava Chandler (Gregg); eight grandchildren, Major Chad Chandler, Lindsay Gregory (Chris), Gregory Chandler, Cheri Boothe (Chris), Technical Sergeant Steven Southern (Katy), Macie Herden (Alex), Jieanna Southern and Ben Southern; three great-grandchildren and a brother, James Mahaffey (Diane).  She was predeceased by a brother, Billy Mahaffey.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 Tuesday at Funeral Services.  The Funeral Service will begin at 11o'clock.  Burial will follow at Graceland East Cemetery.
