Mr. Knighton was someone I really looked forward to seeing each Sunday at Simposnville United Methodist Church. He was so outgoing, and always dressd to impress. I have missed him greatly at Church, and will remember him fondly.

I was a Senior at Hillcrest High School 1959 and was offered the job at Farmers Bank in Simpsonville. I worked with Russell at Farmers Bank from 1959 to 1969 and could not ask for a better friend and co-worker. He had a keen sense of humor and fun to be around. I really enjoyed working with him and Gladys Huff (who we both loved so much) at the Mauldin office. Together they were both a “hoot”. Russell and I remained great friends all these years and I will surely miss him.

YES! Russell WAS A SPECIAL FRIEND TO THE COMMUNITY OF SIMPSONVILLE AND MORE ESPECIALLY TO MY FAMILY THOUGHOUT MY LIFE TIME!!! I always looked forward to walking with my Daddy to Mr Todd's Grocery Store on Saturday morning to buy our family's weekly groceries..Russell would either be bagging our groceries or busy with someother task in the store. By the time Daddy and I walked back home Russell would be driving to our house in thee little green truck to deliver our groceries. Each paper bag was neatly packed and brought right in to our kitchen. Back in those days tips had never been thought of. He was paid some small wages by Mr Todd but was pleased to have a job and did it well ,always with a kind spirit and pleasant smile. Russell and I have always teased each other as to which of us has attended the most "hometown funerals". "I'll see you on Saturday, my friend" Marilyn Marler French

I only got to know Russell for the last two years of his life. My parents were also at the Pearl so I was a frequent visitor. His smile was precious and infectious. I miss seeing him. He was a sweet sweet man. Belinda Beauchamp Simmons
