Obituary of Bobby Williams

Bobby Gene “Bob” Williams, 88, husband of the late Mary Alice McAbee Williams, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Mr. Williams was born in Sorrento, FL to the late Robert Washington Williams and Susie Leola Dees Williams.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War.  Bob had a long career serving families as a life insurance agent and later retired as the owner of Greer Furniture Company.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing.  Bob was a huge fan of Clemson Tiger and Furman Paladin football.  His greatest joy came in being Papa to his grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Darryl Williams with wife Donna; two daughters, Debra Williams, and Nicole Lasley with husband Greg; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Williams; seven grandchildren, Ashley Panos with husband Ben, Brittany Adams, Mikaela Williams, Faith Turner with husband Chandler, William Lasley, Dylan Lasley, and Caroline Lasley; and three great-grandchildren, Grace, Avaleise, and Judah.  He was predeceased by a son, Rev. Mike Williams; a brother, Henry Williams; and a sister, Viola.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be 2 o’clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service in Woodruff.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.  Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
