Obituary of Virginia Ann McCarter

Virginia Ann Curry McCarter, 89, widow of Samuel Lewis McCarter, went to be with her heavenly father, Jesus Christ on the morning of Tuesday, January 9,2024 at her home in Fountain Inn surrounded by family.

Virginia Ann was born in Gray Court to the late Roy Wilton Curry and Josie Kellett Curry. In 1952, she graduated from Gray Court-Owings High School and married her sweetheart, Samuel Lewis McCarter, late husband of 65 years. She worked for Greenville County School District for 23 years. She was a lifelong member of Green Pond United Methodist Church where she was affiliated with the Frankie Balcombe Circle. The greatest enjoyment in life for her was caring for her family, especially being a” Nana” to her cherished grandchildren Ryann and Connor.

Surviving are two sons, Michael McCarter with husband Joel Garrett, and Charles McCarter with wife Dava, and two grandchildren, Ryann Lynch with husband, Pete, and Connor McCarter with fiancé’ Jada Benton. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane McKinney, and her husband Morris.

A Celebration of Virginia’s life will be 3 o’clock Thursday at Green Pond United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Keck and Rev. Mike Maston. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. The Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
