Obituary of Carl "Mac" McAllister Jr

Carl “Mac” McAllister Jr, 78, of Greer passed away on Friday, January 19th,
2024 at his home. He was a beloved and devoted husband to Carolyn Shovan Eramo.


Mac was born in Anderson to the late Carl McAllister Sr and Gladys Partridge
McAllister. Carl graduated from Anderson Boys’ High School and attended Anderson
College until he joined the United States Army. After serving in Okinawa, Japan, he returned
home to become a welder pipefitter by trade, where he traveled to all parts of
the United States. He was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters
Local Union 391 of Greenville, South Carolina. Mac loved to be outside with his animals, work in the yard or his garden, fish, and to go on walks.  He is loved by many and his caring voice and hard-working hands will be greatly missed.
 

Surviving, in addition to his wife,  is his daughter, Carla Hunt and her husband Phil of Fountain Inn; a sister, Juanita Hanvey of Anderson; a loving Papa to two grandsons, Max and Avery Hunt of Fountain Inn; two granddaughters Jenna Crosby and her husband John of Greenville and Haley Farmer and her husband Alex of Greenville; a loving Great Grand Papa to Ember Virginia Crosby of Greenville; As well as two beloved step children, Shannon Courtney of Florida and Dillon Eramo of Pennsylvania and several nieces and special family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Mary Alice McAllister; his daughter Allison Erwin McAllister Durham; his grandson Walker Davis Durham; his sister Margaret Gosnell and a step son Christopher Eramo.
 

A Celebration of Mac’s Life, with Military Honors, will be 11 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
