Obituary of Faye Shoff

Faye I. Shoff-

February 27, 1926 – January 2, 2024

Faye I. Shoff (nee Thorne) of Greer, SC  born February 27, 1926, In Wellsville, Ohio, peacefully passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.    She graduated from Salem High School and Salem Business School in Salem Ohio.  She worked many years as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce in Salem, Ohio.  After moving to Charlotte, NC she worked as a secretary for Cogun Industries.

Faye was married to Edward Shoff on July 16, 1949, and they remained married for 72 years.  She was a dedicated Mother, raising her three sons.  She was also a committed Christian who served in various capacities in her local churches: First Church of the Nazarene in Salem, OH, Pineville Church of the Nazarene, NC and Fellowship Church In Greenville, SC.  Her family honors her for an exemplary faith in both word and deed.  Even at the age of 94 she was able to recite the Nativity Story found in the Gospel of Luke.

She enjoyed many hobbies such as golfing, quilting, reading, embroidery, coloring, and crossword puzzles.  Faye loved visiting and collecting lighthouses.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore F. Thorne, and Pauline P. (nee Ellis) Thorne, her husband, Edward Shoff, a sister, Jean Wilson, and a brother Glenn Thorne.   She is survived by her three sons, Jack (Mary) Shoff of The Villages, FL, James Shoff of Simpsonville, SC and Jay (Sheri) Shoff of Swansea, IL; six grandchildren, Jackie Shoff of Ijamsville, MD, Samuel Shoff of Hunt Valley, MD, Kelli (Randy) Goodwin of New Lenox, IL, Jamie (Jake) Beaulieu of Charlotte, NC, Scott (Amanda) Shoff of Wilmington, NC, Bradley Shoff of Raleigh, NC and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Thorne and Ted (Margaret) Thorne; and a sister Vera Hough.

A private interment where Faye will be laid to rest next to her husband, Edward will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC on January 30, 2024.  The committal service Officiant will be Rev. Jay Shoff.
