Obituary of Lillie Hand
Lillie Mae Jewell Hand, 90, widow of William Rufus “Bill” Hand, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Mrs. Hand was born in Conestee to the late Walter Jewell and Hattie Mae Vaughn Jewell. She was a member of Durbin Creek Baptist Church and retired from Union Carbide. Lillie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, baking cakes and traveling.
Surviving are sons, William Medlin with wife Deena, James Medlin with wife Deborah, and Lonnie Hand; daughters, Linda Powers with husband Fred, Joyce Ennis, Debbie Hughes with husband Burt, Cindy Teal with husband Alton, and Tina Lounsbury with husband Mark; a brother, Don Rhoads; sisters Faye Lopreste, Trudy Thomas, Mary Klag and Frances Autrey; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Billy Hand, Jr.; daughters Vicky Aerni and Cathy Reese; brothers Billy Rhoads, Lewis Jewell, Roy Lee Jewell and Jerry Galloway; and her twin sister, Willie Mae King.
A Celebration of Lillie’s Life will be 1 o’clock Wednesday at Durbin Creek Baptist Church (3798 Durbin Church Road in Fountain Inn). The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be 3 o’clock Wednesday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
