Obituary of Martha "Mott" Armstrong
Martha “Mott” Elizabeth Wham Armstrong, 96, widow of Richard Owings Armstrong, went to the be with the Lord, Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Laurens County to the late Joseph Edward Wham and Mattie Coker Gray Wham. She loved to cook, cross stitch, shop and do yard work. Mott was famous for her strawberry cake and her hot dogs, known to family as “Mott dogs”.
Surviving, are daughter, Jane Watkins; three grandchildren, Jody Watkins (Tisha) of Woodstock, GA, Jonathan Watkins ( JoDee), and Jeffrey Watkins of Gray Court, SC; six great grandchildren, Elijah McCain (Tess), AnneDee Jane Watkins, Chesney Watkins, SaDee Watkins all of Gray Court, SC. Rylan Walker Watkins and Reagan Watkins of Woodstock GA; several nieces and nephews and a surviving sister-in-law, Jean V. Wham. She was predeceased by six brothers, William, Robert, George, Frank, David, and Jack Wham; three sisters, Nell Adair, Sara Gillespie, and Polly Woods and a son-in-law, Barry Walker Watkins.
Funeral Services will be 3pm Tuesday at Green Pond Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one and a half hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
