Obituary of Clarence Mosley
Clarence Edward “Bud” Mosley, 87, husband of Dean Hackler Mosley for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Mr. Mosley was born in Cowan, TN to the late Clifford Eugene Mosley, Sr. and Grace Mae Perry Mosley. He was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Bud graduated from Kirkman Technical College and worked as a Broadcast Engineer with Dade County School District.
Although he excelled in work and was respected for his accomplishments, his greatest desire was to serve his family and people in need in any way he could, physically, financially, and spiritually. If he could offer assistance or fix something that was broken, Bud would give his time, talents and resources to support others. He especially felt compassion for children coming from broken homes because he too experienced this struggle as a child.
His favorite scripture verse was Romans 8:28 – “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” Bud cherished this promise because he experienced God’s faithfulness through adversity and trusted in God’s goodness. He was a faithful husband, loving father, and friend to many – a man of integrity and discipline who lived out his commitment to faithfully serve Christ and love others.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Teresa Ray, Robin Jones, and Sandy Furnell with husband John; a brother, Clifford Mosley, Jr.; four sisters, Betty Jones, Barbara Kay, Carolyn Mosley and Ora Lee Mosley; five grandchildren, Christy Chowhan with husband Joseph, Steven Povia with wife Kacie, Sam Parsons, Jonathan Furnell with wife Rachel, and Olivia Furnell; and eight great-grandchildren, Garrett, Gavin, Griffin, Makayla, Kylie, Carson, Addison and Hadley. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Phillip Ray; and a brother, Bill Mosley.
A Celebration of Bud’s Life will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, June 30th, in the chapel of First Baptist Simpsonville. At a later date, he will receive military funeral honors and burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Mosley requested that donations may be made to: Tabernacle Children’s Home, 3931 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611; or tabernaclechildrenshome.org.
