Obituary of Michael Stang
Michael Joseph Stang, 79, husband of Vera June Twitty Stang for 40 years, passed from this life with his son at his side on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Mr. Stang was born in Vancouver, WA to the late Joseph Peter Stang and Evangelyn Faye Kulbe Stang. He was raised in Denver, Colorado and here was a veteran of the US Air Force. Michael relocated to Chicago, IL and retired from Chase Bank. He and Vera have resided in South Carolina for 16 years. In his younger years, Michael enjoyed skydiving, while in the Air Force. He traveled Europe while stationed there and enjoyed every minute of it.
He traversed the United States with his employment as a Sales Manager, and enjoyed the freedom. In his later years he played tennis with Vera and friends, as well as golf, andpracticed range shooting with family. He was a former member of the LWV (Legal Women Voters) and advocate of stray feline health and adoption. Together they have nurtured more than 25 felines.
Mike was a happy man. He adored his family and always wanted to help where he could. He taught his son how to be a man that was responsible, caring and moral. He imparted wisdom to his daughter and granddaughters. He was liked by everyone. He had a phenomenal sense of humor, sometimes inappropriate, but he always got a laugh.
He was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. To his grandchildren he was the GOAT, Greatest Of All Time grandpa. He will be missed tremendously.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are, a son, Howard Matthew Stang; a daughter, Lori Christine Rector; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Sweeney with husband Matt, Jessica Martin, Samantha Sandeberg with husband Mike; and Trinity Stang; eight great-grandchildren, Shawn Jaco, Ella McCollough, and Austin McCollough, Bradie Sweeney, Connor Sweeney, Forrest Harris, Charles Harris, Robert Joseph Harris.
Services are private, the family will be at the home.
