Obituary of Charlotte Knight

Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charlotte Ann Brashier Knight, 91, widow of Alvin McKinney Knight, went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 12, 2024.

Charlotte was the daughter of the late Helen Brashier Jenkins, and stepdaughter of Jack Jenkins, of Simpsonville. She was a devoted member of Mauldin First Baptist Church, and the Edna Franks Sunday School class.  She was a graduate of Simpsonville High School and an alumna of Columbia College, where she earned a degree in English and education. She retired from a career of teaching elementary school and speech therapy. As a faithful companion to Alvin for 69 years, their careers took their family to multiple locations along the East Coast. Alvin and Charlotte retired to Simpsonville in 1986, where they planned and constructed their own beautiful home. Charlotte was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, friend and an excellent cook. She led a gentle and quiet life as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

Surviving are two sons, Ken Knight with wife Suzanne, and Phil Knight with wife Hara; a brother, Wilson Jenkins: eight grandchildren, Jake Knight with wife Alison, Erin Calderon with husband Roberto, Abel Knight, Joel Knight with wife Katherine, Anna Castleberry with husband Drew, Luke Knight, Seth Knight with wife Molly, and Ruth Tucker with husband Grant; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Becky Cooper, and special aunts, Myrtle Goodnough, and Kara “Aunt Kit” Brashier.

A Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will be 1 o’clock Saturday, August 10th, in the mausoleum chapel of Cannon Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Wade Leonard.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to Mauldin First Baptist Church, 150 S. Main Street, Mauldin, SC 29662.
