Obituary of Jerry Fowler

Jerry Eugene Fowler, 77, husband of Edna Mae Griswold Fowler for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Mr. Fowler was born in Conestee to the late Millard Fillmore Fowler and Eva Louise McQueen Fowler.  Jerry was a member of Bessie Road Baptist Church.  Jerry and Edna were formerly members of Conestee First Baptist Church where they served faithfully as the church treasurer and secretary for 27 years.  They also served as the Children’s Ministry directors for 21 years.  Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.  He was an animalist and raised homing pigeons and chickens.  He was known as Papa Jerry to countless youths.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Darrell Fowler with wife Angie, Blake Mills and Brett Mills; two brothers, Milton Fowler and Ted Fowler with wife Linda; three sisters, Barbara Ann Knight with husband Jack, Deborah Stone, and Sandra Cross with husband Dale; a grandson, Hunter Fowler with wife Tara; and two great-grandchildren, Randi Kay and Peter.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Christy Fowler; and two sisters, Peggy Sue Fowler and Sadie Boyd.

Visitation will be 10 – 12 o’clock Friday at Bessie Road Baptist Church.  Graveside services will be 3 o’clock Friday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
