Graveside Service
Obituary of Wayne Campbell
Albert Wayne Campbell, 79, husband of the late Alene Player Campbell, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Mr. Campbell was born in Gray Court to the late Albert Taylor Campbell and Nanny Letha Graydon Campbell. He was a graduate of Gray Court Owings High School and was a member of Dials Church. In his healthier times, he liked being outdoors cutting grass, planting a garden, or tending to flower beds. He spent many years as a loving and vigilant caregiver to his wife Alene.
The Dials Church cemetery has been overseen by a member of the Campbell family for over 45 years. Wayne and crew worked tirelessly to plot out all the graves and take care of the markers. He met all of the local funeral directors to make sure graves were dug in the right spot and to ensure nothing else was disturbed.
Surviving are his daughter, Teresa Campbell; a steadfast companion, Kathy McCall; a sister, Nancy Knight; and three brothers, Jerry Campbell, Harold Campbell and Mike Campbell. He was predeceased by two sisters, Vivian Patterson and Dorothy Wood.
Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be 11 o’clock Wednesday at Dials Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to Dials Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 555, Gray Court, SC 29645.
