Obituary of Martha Gassaway

Martha Ann Moore Gassaway, 76, widow of Charles Sanford Gassaway, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Mrs. Gassaway was born in Greer to the late Carl Milton Moore and Laura Beatrice Cooper Moore.  She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as the Preschool Director for over 30 years and then later served as the Senior Activities Coordinator.  Martha loved cooking and baking and was famous for her yeast rolls and cakes.  She enjoyed sewing and ceramics.  Martha and Charles spent many days attending local auctions and looking for a good deal.  She cherished being “MaMa” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, are a son, Milton Gassaway with wife Gretchen; a daughter, Viv Knighton with husband Phillip; a brother, Floyd Moore; a sister, Carlette Howard with husband Jerry; six grandchildren, Rebeccah Stevens, Haley Teague (Nick), Jonah Stevens (Cara), Meredith Panther (Chris), Ryan Knighton (Tori), and Adrianna Lancaster (Nick); eight great-grandchildren, Remi, Scarlet, Holly, Rayne, Elodie, J.D., Remi, and River. She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Moore.

Funeral services will be held 3pm Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior.
