Obituary of Charlyn Hickey

Charlyn Rachel Randby Hickey, 79, widow of Michael Richard “Hickey and Einar G. Randby, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

 

Charlyn, better known to those who knew her as Charly, was born in White Plains, NY to the late Cornelius Allen Stephens and Elmeria “Marie” Moreau Stephens.  She lived most of her life in White Plains and retired from AT&T after many years of dedicated service. 

 

In 2013 she relocated to Simpsonville, SC and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.  She was a devote Catholic, caretaker and homemaker by nature and was particularly dedicated to her husbands Einar and Mike.  She enjoyed music, reading, puzzles, being with family, camping, walking, baking, diamond painting, dancing, playing the accordion and had a zest for fun.  Charly loved animals, cats in particular.  She was especially devoted to her two remaining companions, Tango and Hobbes.  She cherished being “Mommy,” “Mom,” “Grandmum” and “Mum” to her children and grandchildren and loved babies.

 

Surviving are six daughters, Simone Blejec with husband Joe, Darlene Dugan with husband James, Joanne Santos with husband Brian, Lisa Randby, Colleen Griffin, and Eileen Hickey; two sons, Ernie Randby with wife Elana, and Jimmy Randby; two brothers, Gaylord Charles Stephens with wife Kay, and Michel “Mickey” Stephens with wife Mary; and 10 grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Einar G. Randby; and a brother, Daniel Stephens.

 

A Funeral Mass will be 11 o’clock Monday, November 25th, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.  Visitation will be at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains on December 1st 5 to 8pm and 10 am on December 2nd.  Prayer service at McMahon will start 11 am on December 2nd and she will be laid to rest in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY following the prayer service.
