Obituary of Jerry W Barbrey

Jerry W. Barbrey, 84, husband of Ruth McCraw Barbrey for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018.

Mr. Barbrey was born in Simpsonville to the late Walter Lee Barbrey and Annie Thackston Barbrey.  Jerry enjoyed fishing and woodworking; but his greatest joy was being “Pop” to his grandbabies.  He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church.  Jerry was the owner and operator of Barbrey’s Gas Station for many years, and then helped found Fletcher Funeral Service.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Mike Barbrey and wife Traci; a daughter, Beth Chapman and friend Vince Bryant; a brother, Bob Barbrey; two sisters, Lucy Mahon and Adeline Savage; and four grandchildren, Will Chapman, Erin Chapman, Milli Barbrey and Miles Barbrey.  He was predeceased by a brother, David Barbrey; a sister, Mary Armstrong; and a son-in-law, Billy Chapman.

Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 3pm Friday in the sanctuary at Simpsonville First Baptist Church.  Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Cannon Memorial Park.
