Obituary of Wilbern Lee Harkins, Sr.
Wilbern Lee “Pa” Harkins Sr., 89, husband of Frances Hellams Harkins for 69 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2018.
Mr. Harkins was born in Shelby, NC to the late John Payton Harkins and Florence Anna Click Harkins. He worked many years at the Beattie Plant and retired from Cycle Oil. He was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon. Pa was an avid reader of the Bible. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and attending to his grape vines.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Lee Harkins Jr. and wife Wanda; a daughter, Sheryl Stewart and husband James “Duck”; a sister, Jean Whitfield; five grandsons and their wives, Michael and Cindy Stewart, Jay and Andrea Stewart, Dustin and Kristi Harkins, Ian and Megan Harkins, and Colin and Christina Harkins; and five great-grandchildren, Jaden Stewart, Christian Stewart, Scarlett Harkins, Alex Harkins and Wyatt Harkins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Grover Harkins and Carroll Harkins.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Mauldin First Baptist Church, followed by entombment in the mausoleum at Graceland East Cemetery.
