Mike was one of the smartest, kindest, and funniest dudes I've ever met. We were never especially close until I randomly encountered him at Winthrop shortly after I suffered a personal tragedy. I'll never forget the warmth he showed me then, nor will I forget how hard me made me laugh at a time when genuine, non-ironic laughter seemed impossible. One of the last times I saw him was on the day of our graduation in 2014. I'm glad I got to hug him then. I know that these words can do very little to relieve the burden of losing him, but know that Mike touched my life in a profound way. I consider myself a better person for having known him.
