Obituary of Janie Blackwell Abercrombie

Janie Iris Blackwell Abercrombie, 89, widow of Paul E. Abercrombie, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 9, 2018.

Mrs. Abercrombie was born in Hickory Tavern to the late James David Blackwell and Alliene Virginia Tumblin Blackwell. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the Lily Chapman Sunday School class. Janie enjoyed gardening and being “JaneNanny” to her grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Ray Abercrombie and wife Terry, Kenneth Abercrombie and wife Kay, and Glenn Abercrombie; a daughter, Shirley Fleming and husband Lonnie; a sister, Dot Pitts; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, James Blackwell and Richard Blackwell; and two sisters, Martha Davis and Mary Garrett.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beulah Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Bryan and Rev. Larry Pitts. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Dials United Methodist Church Cemetery.
