Obituary of Darlene Strickland

Cornelia Darlene Johnson Strickland, 64, wife of James Michael Strickland for 44 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2018.

Mrs. Strickland was born in Clinton to the late Calvin Lee Johnson and Cornelia Irene Bryant Johnson.  She loved her church and was a member of Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy.  Darlene enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and community.  Her greatest pride was being “Nanny” to all her grandkids.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are five sons, Marcell Christian, Michael Christian and wife Missy, Russell Strickland, Joshua Strickland and wife Brandy, and Ryan Strickland and wife Kaley; a sister, Cindy Johnson; 27 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Johnny Johnson and Cleave Johnson; and a sister, Clara Jane Johnson.

A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy, officiated by Rev. Brandon Nixon and Rev. Steve Christopher.  Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service, and also at the home until 11 a.m. Thursday.
