Obituary of Ruby Lee Bayne Smith

Ruby Lee Bayne Smith, 96, of Simpsonville, passed away on Sunday May 20, 2018. A lifelong resident of Simpsonville, Ruby was born on October 30, 1921 to the late Fred Stewart and Effie Lee Bayne. She was the widow of Mr. J.B. Smith. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Winsome Sunday School Class. Ruby loved to cook, often preparing meals for her family and church members. She enjoyed being in the outdoors working in her garden, and she loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith; grandchildren, Jeremy Smith (Lana), Christy Burnette (Shane), and Kevin Smith; great-grandchildren, Ava, Jack, Wesley, and Caroline Ruby; a daughter-in-law, Angie Smith; a sister, Barbara White; as well as her beloved dog, Molly. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wayne Smith; and brothers, Alvin and Bruce Bayne.

The funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 1 o’clock on Wednesday, May 23^rd, at Cross Roads Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Sheehan and Rev. Joey Estes officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 11:30. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
