Obituary of Melvin Glen Suttles

Melvin Glen Suttles, 89, husband of Elizabeth Jewell Faye Leopard Suttles for 68 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2018.

 

Mr. Suttles was born in Fountain Inn to the late James “Jim” Madison Suttles and Janie Manda Godfrey Suttles.  He retired from Truck Stop of America and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  Glen was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jesse Suttles; two daughters, Brenda Gibson and husband Robert, and Darlene Suttles; two sisters, Dot Breazeale and Jenny True; five grandchildren, Buster Babb, Crystal Burnett and husband Adam, Nolan Suttles and wife Rhiannon, Kenneth Suttles, and Darla Deal and husband Cheyenne; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  He was predeceased by four brothers, Toby Arnold, O’dell Arnold, Bill Suttles, and J.C. Suttles; three sisters, Hattie Gault, Delena Foster, and Edna Suttles; a granddaughter, Amie Cordova; and a great-grandson, Roman Cordova.

 

Funeral Services, with Military Honors, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
