Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty Jo Ellenburg Lancaster, 87, wife of Charles Augustus Lancaster for 68 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Mrs. Lancaster was born in Greenville to the late William Benson Ellenburg and Erna Geneva Roper Ellenburg.  She was a member of Clear Spring Baptist Church, the Neal Young Missionary Group, and the T.E.L. Sunday school class.  At church, she sang in the choir in her younger years, led the “Golden Age” Seniors Group, and served in the nursery for fourteen years.  She served as a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels for over twenty-five years.  Betty enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting; but her greatest joy was being “Ma-Ma” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, David Lancaster and wife Lisa; four daughters, Billie Jo Abercrombie and husband Sammy, Linda Lawson and husband Ken, Charlene Riddle, and Reba Harrison; a brother, Fred Ellenburg and wife Louise; a sister, Mary Alice Campbell; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Nichole and Jamie Knight, Janet and Jason Johnson, LeeAnn and Casey Robinson, Jeff and Lori Lawson, Josh and Lauren Riddle, Beth and Clint Gillis, Jamie and Brady Peele, and Spencer and Brittany Abercrombie; and twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Ellenburg and Norma Ellenburg. She was predeceased by five brothers, Ernie Ellenburg, Dennis Ellenburg, Alton Ellenburg, Edward Ellenburg, and Wilson Ellenburg; and a sister, Ollie Lindsey.

Many thanks to Donna Smith and Halcyon Hospice caregivers for the special care they provided.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Clear Spring Baptist Church (301 Bethany Road in Simpsonville).

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Cannon Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Meals-on-Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605; or to Halcyon Hospice, 665 N. Academy Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
