Obituary of Jennie Garrett Burdette

Virginia Ann “Jennie” Garrett Goodwin Burdette, 75, widow of Carroll Goodwin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019.

Mrs. Burdette was born in Greenville to the late Ben William Garrett and Emma Lee Whitt Garrett.  After 47 years as a beautician, she retired as the owner of Jennie’s Beauty Salon and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Amaranth, and Eastern Star.  Jennie was a member of the Golden Strip Shrine Club, Ladies of the Shrine and the Shrine Clown unit.

Surviving are a son, Chris Goodwin (Kim); a daughter, Lynn Peden (Sam); two grandsons, Carroll Peden (Becki) and Garrett Peden (Mary Fran); three great-granddaughters, Sarah, Heidi, and Lorelai; and a companion, Satch Townsend.  She was predeceased by a sister, Sue Eskew.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the mausoleum chapel at Cannon Memorial Park.  Entombment will be private.
