Obituary of Marilyn Sutherland Eshelman

Marilyn Kay Sutherland Eshelman, 67, wife of Ellis Eshelman for 38 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Mrs. Eshelman was born in Omaha, NE to the late Walter Lee Sutherland and Leta Byrene Harkness Sutherland. She was born again at the age of 5, accepting Christ as her Savior. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and taught for seven years at Southside Christian School. Marilyn was an alumna of Iowa State University and for over 18 years worked with her husband Ellis operating Doodles-for-You. She was an avid reader and a collector of Precious Moments figurines. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three brothers, Ron Sutherland and wife Wendy, Dan Sutherland and wife Sue, and Tim Sutherland; three nephews, Walter Sutherland, Justin Sutherland, and Matthew Sutherland; and five nieces, Karis Sutherland, Elise Sutherland, Suzanne Owens, Hannah Gamble, and Lindsey Sutherland. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Grace Baptist Church. A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be 12 noon Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, followed by burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church (8841 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC 29669) to be used for a Rose Garden that will serve as a constant reminder of a life lived faithfully for Christ.
