Obituary of Fred Wayne Allen

Fred Wayne Allen, 89, husband of Shirley Ann Walls Allen for 54 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Mr. Allen was born in McCaysville, GA to the late Rufus Cook Allen and Girlie Sara Turner Allen. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Army and retired from Jacobs Engineering. He was a member of Brookwood Church and the American Legion. He was also a HEJAZ Shriner and member of Empire Masonic Lodge #213 in Mauldin. Fred enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening and woodworking. His greatest joy was being PaPa to his grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary Allen and wife Lori; a daughter, Gail Johnson and husband Phillip; a brother, Bud Allen and wife Trudy; a sister, Dot Lill; four granddaughters, Sarah Allen, Lindsey Allen, Erin Waller and husband Tyler, and Maria Allen; and five great-grandchildren, Cole Sinclair, Jameson Harvey, Maddox Harvey, Naomi Waller and Jayce Jackson. He was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Allen; a sister, Marie Herring; and his beloved dog “Squirt”. Funeral services, with Military Honors and Masonic Rites, will be 12 noon Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
