I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Scott. Scott called on us at Bosch Anderson, and he will be missed. I always enjoyed our conversations about Clemson sports, our families, and our faith in Christ. To the family....Scott loved you very much and we often talked about how blessed we are. We are praying for all of you. I will miss you my friend, but I will see you again!

I, Bryan Gannaway, was very fortunate to meet Scott in the spring of 2003 in the Atlanta 8-Ball Championship finals. It was a hard-fought match, and I got the best of him that day. Not to be too wordy, but I was flooded with many memories after hearing of Scott's passing. I am unable to travel to South Carolina, so I’ll tell four of my stories about Scott.
Not all parts of my stories are permissible or appropriate for all, they are what they are.
First, Scott and I started talking after the 8-Ball championship. I said, “Hey why don’t you come meet some of my friends on my pool team” and the rest is history. Over five years, our teams won team championships, singles championships, doubles championships, many local tournaments, and 5 paid trips out to Las Vegas. We got comped the penthouse suite at the top of the Riviera from a great night at blackjack and all the limousine rides wherever we wanted to go. Once, we just wanted Breakfast at Denny’s.
Second story, Scott, Bryan Ott, and myself went to my parent’s beach house in Mexico Beach Florida for some sun and fun. It wasn’t ‘Scott’, but someone got the smart idea to try to catch blue crab which were running at the time. We used bait on a rope in the water. The problem was we didn’t have a net and we didn’t have any gloves. So, we kept drawing straws to see who would go out and try to grab the blue crab off the bait without getting pinched. I kept getting the short end of the stick, but I had some experience grabbing blue crab from behind to not get pinched. Bryan Ott had great reflexes he survived. However, Scott finally drew the short straw and slowly walked out to grab a blue crab. The scream was so loud it was like a shark attack and the crab would not let go. I didn’t know Scott’s fingers could bleed so much. We did eat well that night.
Third story, young people close your ears. Scott and I were playing pool one night trying to find a game and somebody to gamble against. I was a little bit better, also I could play left-handed making myself look like a novice player. After we had already won $400 from the guys and they still wanted to play more, Scott came back and said you won’t believe what one of the opponents just said to me at the bar. I said what did he say? The opponent stated to Scott, “Scott, if your partner was a better shot, you’d really be good.” Those guys had no clue who they were playing against.
The fourth and final story, there is not really a story but an observation. A knew Scott at his best, I was a teammate, roommate, a coach, a competitor, a friend, and we were like brothers for over 5 years. I never saw him get angry, I never saw him be mean to anybody, he was thoughtful and kind, he didn’t say anything bad about anybody, and he made everyone around him feel important. His character and stature were strong like a brick wall, and his eyes were like the prettiest blue from a freshwater spring. I don’t know what cracked his wall or dimmed his optics. Frankly, I don’t care. He loved his wife and his daughter, but that doesn’t mean understood himself. He was a special and close friend. I will miss him dearly. My one picture I found to post has been on my wall for 15 years (New Years 2005).

Bryan, this is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I heard the crab story from Scott's perspective and it is so hilarious. He loved you, Tom, and Ott very much. Life gets busy but he would always mention trying to visit you guys again at some point. I am so sorry we didn't get that chance. I know you like all of us want answers but we won't ever have them. The one thing I know for sure is Scott is walking in Glory and we will see him again one day. ❤

My memories of Scott and Julie with their little girl Maddie are filled with ❤️ I remember when Scott and Julie met years ago while working at Lowe’s, and falling in love. I could see how happy they was everyday and that was such a joy. Then they married and had Maddie. This family is a true example of what love means. I am so sad for Julie and Maddie and all the family. We do not always understand the things that happen in our lives and I pray God will give Julie strength and hope to live her life to the fullest with Maddie. I know she is a great Mother and Scott’s memories will live in her heart always and hopefully help her through this very difficult time. My thoughts and prayers with ❤️ Tammy Jarrell Russell

Scott was a really good good friend to many of in Atlanta. We shared so many fun and exiting moments. On in particular is when Scott won the final match to helped us win the Atlanta championship and go to the national championship. The laughs we all had together will always be the times remember best about Scott. I know you are in a better place and we can’t wait to rack em up with you again! Our prayers are with the family!

Mike and Carol, so sad to learn of Scott’s death. My prayers for you and Amy are continuously on my heart at this time. I especially recall sitting on grandstands with Uncle Joe and watching Scott play baseball, usually pitching.

Corinthians 15:26
And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.
Revelation 21:3, 4
With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away
2 Corinthians 1:3, 4
Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.
The Pucketts- (Jackie, Marcus, & Brianna) send you all love, and pray God comforts you!!!!

I taught Scott in the 7th grade. He was the sweetest, nicest boy. I kept up with him through his mom, Carol and sister, Amy. I prayed for him all through the years. I was so saddened by this news. Now I pray for his family. Y’all I pray that God surround you with strength and comfort during this awfully hard time. Thoughts, love and prayers to all of you now and in the days ahead.

Dear friend and Christian brother, so very sad and hard to say goodbye. Scott will be deeply missed. He has been a precious part of my life, and the lives of so many others. In life he encouraged me, he inspired me, and he certainly entertained me! In death he has challenged me to love like there's no tomorrow, give as if everything of importance has been given to me (because it already has), and to hope with renewed certainty because another of God's treasured loved ones awaits for a glorious reunion in Heaven!
Julie, Maddie, Carol, Amy, and all the family, may the grace of our sweet Lord rest upon you, and may His peace abound in your hearts through this really hard time. You are loved!
- Love, Pastor Ben
