Obituary of Norman Gene Self

Norman Gene Self, 72, husband of the late Cheryl Diane Morrow Self, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2021. Norman was born in Laurens to late Charles Emmitt Self and Lurey Hill Self. He retired from Laurens Glass as well as the Bilo Warehouse in Mauldin. Norman was an avid Tennessee Vols fan and a train enthusiast. He could spend hours talking about his Vols, watching and chasing trains, or showing his huge hat collection. Norman is survived by his daughter, Lynn; son, Michael (Tracey); grandsons, Jacob, Brady, and Ethan; granddaughter, Kirsten Wilson; children who he held close to his heart, Dee, Autumn, Demi, Samantha, August, Waylon, Piper, and Castiel; a brother, Jimmy Self (Betty Jo); sisters Ruth Brooks, Betty Harrison, Edna Graddick, and Doris Self; and his nieces, nephews, and all those who lovingly called him Pop. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne Self and Johnny Self; and his nephew, John Self. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the home, 6123 Highway 221 South in Laurens.
