Obituary of Dakota Tumlin
Dakota Griffith Tumlin, 87, widow of Roy Lee Tumlin, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Dakota was born in Simpsonville to the late William Henry “Bill” Griffith and Florie Elizabeth Wood Griffith. She received her nursing degree from Greenville General Nursing School. She spent her life as a dedicated caregiver working at McLawhorn Clinic for over 30 years and retired from Fountain Inn Nursing Home at age 78. Dakota was a lifetime member of Clear Spring Baptist Church and a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister and mother to her family. She was always willing to help anyone in the community. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities. Yearly trips to the beach were always enjoyed by the whole family.
Surviving are a son, Ashley Tumlin with wife Dana; two daughters, Kay Clark with husband Butch, and Lynn Buddin with husband Chip; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her special brother, Wayne Griffith.
Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clear Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Because of her endless devotion to her brother with Down Syndrome, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mosaic (special needs) Ministry – In Memory of Dakota Tumlin, Grace Church, 2801 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615; or online at https://grace.sc/next-steps/give/
