Obituary of Rachel Pepper

Rachel Elizabeth Hamby Pepper, 72, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Ms. Pepper was born in Greenwood to the late Daniel E. Washington Hamby and Elizabeth Josalee Smith Hamby.  She was a graduate of Chris Logans Beauty School and retired as a cosmetologist.  Rachel enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling and sewing.  She was a nature enthusiast that loved hiking and camping.  Her greatest joy was being Granny to her grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Stonell; a sister, Virginia Moore; three grandchildren, Ashley Rodriguez with husband Miguel, Carley Anderson with husband Austin, and Austin Dockery; and four great-grandchildren, Brinnlee, Kaiden, Weston, and Maddox.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Roy Hamby, Larry Hamby, and Gerald Hamby; and a sister, Doris Drake.

A Celebration of Rachel’s Life will be 4 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
